Hi! I’m Selene—DIYer turned designer, content creator, and solo entrepreneur.
I help people create beautiful, functional spaces (and businesses) they’re proud of. I’ve always been drawn to creative problem-solving, and after renovating my entire home, I realized this was more than just a hobby.
In 2023, I founded Selene Builds Things, quit my full-time job a year later, and never looked back. What started as a passion project quickly grew into a full-time business—and a platform to inspire others, especially women, to pick up. some power tools and start building too!

How It All Began…
In 2020, I had never even considered picking up a power too, let alone doing a home renovation. That all changed when my husband brought home an old chair he found in the trash.
“It has a nice shape,” he said, “maybe you’d want to paint it or reupholster it?”
He was right. I took it apart, sanded it down, refinished the frame, and gave it new life with fresh fabric and. a paint job. That chair still sits proudly in our bedroom and I like to say it’s the one that started it all.

She’s the brains (and usually the brawn) behind Selene Builds Thing. She’s a DIYer turned designer, content creator, and coach for creatives ready to build something bold. I run on espresso and the thrill of a new project. And who doesn’t love a before-and-after!

The guy who brought home the chair that started it all. Whether he’s behind the camera filming, brewing some sake, or just doing damage control, he’s the rock behind the scenes. He’s the #1 Hype Man, the comic relief and the best problem solver around. Selene and Devin are a true dynamic duo!

Our on-site supervisors. They specialize in napping during work hours, barking at deliveries, and sticking their noses in everything. They are morale boosters, insulation testers, and full-time charmers. Catch these low-riding cuties bringing smiles to everyone on site!
