Not the prettiest pictures to share this week, but progress was made nonetheless! Here are the “before” pictures and the current state of the room. To start, I got the room and closet completely empty which was no small feat. This room serves as our home office, library, guest room and storage closet. There was a lot of stuff in here!

How it started
Room completely emptied!

Next, I decided to rip up the tile floors by myself without a power tool. This was another big feat. Removing the tiles was hard work and then I had to carry I don’t know how many pounds of tiles out to the dumpster. I definitely got my workout in!

Tile hallway removed
Tiles are out but lots of thinset left behind

The final demo task was removing the closet wall to open up the space and make it more functional. I got it down to the studs and now waiting for confirmation that we can remove them assuming it is not a load bearing wall, which we’re pretty confident it is not. But that is why we’re getting an expert opinion before taking out the studs. It’s always wise to get professional advice before removing walls in your house.

Closet emptied and wall intact

Let’s knock out this wall!
I made a window
No more wall.

So that’s it for this week! It doesn’t look like much but it was a lot of work and needed to be done to execute my design plan. Be sure to follow along for the rest of the 8 week challenge and check out all the other guest participants on the blog at: https://www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog

Until next week!
