It’s that time again! Time for the One Room Challenge! What is the One Room Challenge? It is an online community of people designing and DIY-ing a room in their house over 8 weeks!

This will be my 4th time participating in the ORC. Previously I did our guest bathroom, guest bedroom and the closet in the guest bedroom which I turned into my tool storage space! If you missed the last 3, you can find them here on the blog and on all of my social media channels.

My first ORC Spring 2022- The Guest Bathroom

My second ORC (which I didn’t complete on time) was Fall 2022 when I made custom built ins for our home office and guest room.

My most recent ORC was my tool storage closet completed in the Spring of 2023.

This time I will be giving my laundry room a makeover. This was actually one of our very first projects when we bought the house. I painted it and Devin, my husband, build the shelves that I gave him a rough design for. This was way before I had ever picked up a power tool! Fast forward a few years later, I have several room renovations under my belt and an entire room (closet) dedicated to my tools! Needless to say, I will be building the shelves this time around. So stick around for the next 8 weeks as I transform my laundry room! Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss anything and also check out all of the other guest participants on the ORC blog HERE.

Here is my mood board for the laundry room makeover. I’ll be building new floating shelves, hanging wallpaper, installing lighting, painting the floors and finishing it off with lots of beautiful storage accessories!

This is the current state of the laundry room. It’s not well organized and I’m ready for a new color!

This was the first makeover we did years ago. Added a fresh coat of paint and built some simple wood shelves.

Here is what it looked like originally when we bought the house. It had your standard wire shelving and bi-fold doors. It was functional but nothing special and we definitely kept the doors closed most of the time to hide the mess!

The goal is to make the laundry room more functional, well organized and beautiful to look at! I’ve since removed the bi-fold doors because they were constantly in the way and I don’t think I’ll be putting in new ones. Instead, I’d rather the space be something I want to look at rather than to hide behind doors.

So that is the plan! Next week we start demo! You can follow the daily updates on stories on Instagram and Facebook as well.

Until next week, happy DIY-ing!
