The tool storage and closet organization continued this week! I’ll cover how I made this really simple storage unit for my four Ryobi power tools.

Again, this can be customized to meet your tool needs. I had four tools I wanted to store together, so I made a box with four slots.

Cut List

I started by cutting all the plywood pieces on the table saw. Next, I went back and cut out dados on the two sides at 1/4″ thick and 1/4″ deep for the dividers to slide into. I won’t go into detail on how to do that on the table saw because I’m not an expert. I did use this method previously when I made my custom built ins with shaker cabinet doors, so I had some experience doing this. But before that, I’d never done it so I looked up some videos on YouTube on how to do it and here we are!

Set up blocks
Dados

I assembled the box with clamps, wood glue and brad nails.

Once the box was assembled, the 1/4″ plywood dividers slid right in to the grooves I cut!

Easy assembly

Lastly, I screwed in the accessory cleat on the back so I can hang it on the french cleat wall.

Accessory cleat on the back

There you have it! Pretty basic and very functional!

More tool storage to come! Next post will be the sanding station so be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it.
