What I built

  • Gutted the tub and shower surround down to the studs and replaced it with a curbless walk in shower
  • Waterproofed the whole shower with Kerdi board and banded seams before any tile went up
  • Tiled the shower walls in a cream zellige style tile and the floor and niche in terracotta penny tile
  • Framed and tiled a full width recessed niche and built a stone topped corner bench
  • Swapped every fixture to brass, including the rain head, valve, faucet and light
  • Refinished the existing vanity doors and drawer fronts back to raw wood instead of replacing the cabinet
  • Added a round mirror and a recessed wall niche with two floating wood shelves
